1. Treasures of Empress Dowager Cixi— Exhibits from Her Residence in Summer Palace

The Summer Palace was a crucial political stage of the late Qing Dynasty as well as the most important residence of Empress Dowager Cixi in her later life. Summer Palace Management Office launched the exhibition entit Chanled “Treasures of Empress Dowager Cixi— Exhibits from Her Residence in Summer Palace” with Cixi, the hostess of the imperial garden, as the theme. The exhibition was successfully presented in collaboration withgchun Museum of the Imperial Palace of “Manchukuo”, Shenyang Palace Museum and Shanghai Yu Garden Management Office. This exhibition selects hundreds of pieces of cultural relics related to Cixi so as to completely reflect her disposition and the characteristics of palace life. It not only mirrors the real life of Cixi but also gives visitors a glimpse of the palace culture in the late Qing dynasty alongside its historical and cultural background.

From April 25 to October 15, 2014, the Summer Palace and Changchun Museum of the Imperial Palace of “Manchukuo” jointly held the exhibition entitled “Treasures of Empress Dowager Cixi—Exhibits from Her Residence in Summer Palace”.

From July 10 to September 5, 2014, the Summer Palace and Shenyang Palace Museum jointly held the exhibition entitled “Treasures of Empress Dowager Cixi—Exhibits from Her Residence in Summer Palace”.

From September 28 to November 8, 2015, the Summer Palace and Shanghai Yu Garden Management Office jointly held the exhibition entitled “Residence in the Imperial Garden—Treasures of Empress Dowager Cixi in Summer Palace”.

From September 10 to November 16, 2016, the Summer Palace co-hosted “Residence in the Imperial Garden—Special Exhibition of Treasures of Empress Dowager Cixi in Summer Palace” with Changshu Museum and Beijing Huaxie Cultural Development Co., Ltd.
