exhibitions and undertake cultural exchange-oriented exhibitions. In April 2013, in order to publicize and celebrate the overall reopening-up of Dehe Garden after its major repairs, the Summer Palace launched the exhibition entitled “Celebration Performances in the Flourishing Age—Exhibition of Cultural Relics of Theatrical Plays for Empress Dowager Cixi in Dehe Garden” in collaboration with the Palace Museum, the First Historical Archives of China, National Library of China and CAFA Art Museum. The exhibits include archives, drama, costumes, musical instruments, paintings as well as silk and paper products which normally set higher requirements for the exhibition environment. It is the first time for the Summer Palace to borrow from domestic first-class museums and art galleries their precious collections of cultural relics and co-host the finest exhibitions with them. The successful exhibition also indicates that the display facilities and conditions for cultural relics in the Make-up Building at Dehe Garden have won full recognition from the circle of cultural exposition. As an integral part of the historical value of the grand complex, the exhibition in itself has deepened the revelation of the historical and cultural value of Dehe Garden.
